My name is Collette and welcome to my website.

You will probably find that this site becomes an eclectic mix of things that interest me.  I enjoy photography, although I am not really much good at it.  Thankfully I only work in digital so I don't have to worry about film, processing and being careful how many attempts I need to make before I get an image which is acceptable to me.

I have just emabarked on a life-long project and I hope that you will find it interesting.  11/11/2018 saw the centenary of the ending of World War I.  There are now no remaining survivors of this war.  I was lucky enough to attend one of the 1200 beacon lighting ceremonies whilst I was away on holiday.  It was such a moving event that this prompted me to think about what I could do to honour those who paid the ultimate sacrifice and gave their lives in order that I could grow up and live in a free country.

Having just spent a day learning the art of pinhole photography, I thought I would start a project to photograph every Commonwealth War Grave that I find whilst on holiday or out and about.  Rather than just photograph the headstone, I have decided to do some research so that there will be details of the person, a brief description of them (the usual - rank, number and which service they served in) and then if possible a little more detail about them and where they came from.  Also there will be pictures of the graveyard or church yard where they are buried and a short history of the location.

The project will also encompass other memorials to fallen service personnel in other conflicts and civilians commemorated for having lost their lives as a direct result of enemy attack during WW1 and WW2

Check back often to see what has been added.
